where the bookstores operated or continue to operate, and an ever
important glossary of book classifications that today's booklovers
still need to have. Also includes very insightful city narratives. An
ode to out-of-print books, and the people who search for them.

"These well-written, easy-to-use guides to book browsing in the Bay Area
(also Los Angeles, Seattle, San Diego and other literary spots on the West
Coast) give you, if not a complete listing, the very best of what each city
has to offer. With such essentials as location, hours and type of stock, plus
pricing and rating guides, rare book and first edition information, a glossary
of book classifications and much more, which add up to a fine, first rate
'Baedeker of books' you'll wish to own and loathe to lend."

From "Nouveau Paris Monumental" found at a West Coast used book store
three decades ago. This old-fashioned little book, published around 1900,
contains a pop-out map that shows all the important and not-so-important
landmarks of Paris. Great for exploring the city, it's now a collector's item.

This scarce 1933 treatise is still the authority
on the subject, and has been found from time
to time at West Coast used book stores. The
book has recently been digitized and is today
available as an online e-publication at LIBRO.
